Intentia Introduces Pre-Configured Industry Solutions for Rapid ERP Implementations

QuickStep solutions aim to cut implementation times by more than 50 percent, and set the foundation for a continuous improvement program

ORLANDO, Fla. and STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intentia is providing customers with Movex ERP applications that are pre-configured for its key industries, the company announced at its Movex User Conference today. The QuickStep program is designed to help mid-sized companies lower the cost of ownership of a leading ERP solution by cutting implementation times by more than 50 percent.

QuickStep Food & Beverage will be generally available later this quarter. QuickStep solutions for the fashion, distribution and asset-intensive industries will be released later this year.

Focus is on Customers Seeking a Continuous Improvement Program

The heart of QuickStep is the latest version of the Intentia Application Suite, IAS 5.2, released in November 2005. The QuickStep solutions speed implementation of IAS by pre-configuring 70 to 90 percent of the key processes required by companies in each industry. Moreover, they have been designed on a global basis, and provide full-functionality applications -- not "light" versions. Customers can add additional features, components and customization as part of a continuous improvement program.

The typical QuickStep customer will have sales of less than US $200 million.

"QuickStep targets rapidly growing mid-market companies," said John Gledhill, vice president for industry solutions. "Many of these companies find traditional, full ERP implementations too time-consuming and expensive, yet they don't want to be trapped with a generic ERP solution with limited industry-specific functionality or a generic ERP solution with bolt-on industry additions. QuickStep accommodates their growing and changing needs." Gledhill also described how "QuickStep required us to re-think our approach to implementation. We want to go further than our competitors and maximize the value of QuickStep by packaging our industry functionality with our industry knowledge and implementation skills."

Intentia expects that customers will be able to implement QuickStep in three to six months, less than half the time required for a typical ERP implementation, with consequent savings in consulting and internal costs. The QuickStep solutions have been designed by Intentia's industry experts. As a result, they incorporate best practices in each industry, based on Intentia's expertise in carrying out thousands of implementations over more than 20 years.

QuickStep Food & Beverage to Be Released Later this Quarter

QuickStep Food & Beverage is the first pre-configured industry solution planned for release. It will enable customers who want to thrive in the increasingly collaborative and demand-driven food and beverage (F&B) environment:

-- Manage the high velocity of transactions in the F&B industry
    supply chain
-- Plan and execute customer deliveries and shipments down to
    the minute
-- Reduce waste from shelf-life issues
-- Meet industry standards for food safety, traceability and quality
    assurance
-- Implement pricing and promotion programs, and satisfy complex
    retailer demands
-- Plan manufacturing and materials usage on a daily and hourly
    basis
-- Maximize product yields, with planning capabilities for recipes
    with by-products, scrap, etc.
-- Carry out detailed profitability and customer service analyses

QuickStep Helps Realize Intentia's Vision

The QuickStep solutions are consistent with the statement of direction Intentia shared at the Movex conference for its third generation of software, which will continue to focus on meeting the needs of mid-market customers that make, move and maintain products. The primary themes the company emphasized are simplified interoperability, industry-specific needs, enhanced user experience and lower total cost of ownership.

"We believe generic ERP is dead, and industry-specific functionality is one of the areas where businesses can find a competitive advantage," Gledhill said. "Moreover, flexibility in achieving business goals will be key. The continuous improvement philosophy behind QuickStep will enable customers to add more functionality and greater customization on an incremental basis."

QuickStep users benefit from the strengths of IAS 5.2, the only fully Java-based enterprise application. Written to open standards, customers will not be trapped into proprietary solutions, or a rigid hardware-middleware-software "stack." As such, QuickStep is easy to integrate with the systems of other companies in the supply chain and to add third-party software or additional Intentia applications in the future.
