Buffalo Announces 802.11n Draft Specification Wireless Products are Immediately Available for Purchase

Buffalo is the First WLAN Vendor to Put in the Hands of Consumers Next Generation Wi-Fi Solutions That are Designed to Quadruple Wireless Speeds, Boost Reliability and Improve Security

AUSTIN, Texas, April 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless and wired networking, storage and memory solutions announced today it is the first WLAN vendor to make available via retail the highly anticipated IEEE 802.11n draft specification Wi-Fi solutions. The products are immediately available online at http://www.pcconnection.com and include the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Router and AP (WZR-G300N), the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless PCI Adapter (WLI-PCI-G300N) and the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G300N).

The latest additions to Buffalo's high-performance line of wireless networking solutions are designed to far surpass the speed and performance of current Wi-Fi solutions, including those with speed and range enhancing technology. With the ability to produce data rates near 300Mbps, the new 802.11n draft specification products are ideally suited for applications that demand greater bandwidth such as VoIP or high definition video. Buffalo's new products also boast improved stability for wireless streaming, increased security and enhanced wireless range.

Buffalo's new products comply with the newly approved 1.0 draft status. Task Group N of the IEEE 802.11 committee unanimously approved on January 19, 2006 a joint proposal to amend the IEEE 802.11 standard by adding specifications such as MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) and 20Mhz and 40Mhz channels, which will ultimately increase wireless network connection speeds, to as much as 600Mbps by the time the standard is ratified. Draft 802.11n also offers compatibility with any legacy 802.11b/802.11g WLAN device. The IEEE expects to ratify the standard in 2007. Buffalo has worked closely with the IEEE and leading wireless chipset manufacturers to ensure superior performance and compatibility with existing Wi-Fi solutions. The company's new wireless solutions are based on the Intensi-fi(tm) draft 802.11n chipset by Broadcom.

"Buffalo was a pioneer of 802.11g technology, being first to market with superior, forward-looking solutions that revolutionized and defined a new lifestyle, which includes hot spots, wireless gaming and wireless streaming of multimedia content throughout the home or office," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. "The market has been waiting for techno-savvy solutions that complement their bandwidth intense digital lifestyles. We are thrilled to make these products immediate available to our customers, allowing us to once again set the pace for the next-generation of WLAN solutions and immediately offer customers the speed, stability and security necessary to handle any modern-day application."

AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Router and AP (WZR-G300N)

Sporting a new form factor, the new AirStation Nfiniti Router and AP is a two-in-one solution that features an external switch, which easily allows the product to be used as either a router or Access Point. The router is equipped with a built-in DHCP server and 4 port 10/100 Auto-Sensing switch. The router features optimized WAN to LAN routing speeds and support for FTTH. Automatic Channel Support automatically selects the best wireless channel with the least interference. The product also features Wireless Distribution System (WDS) support for bridging and repeating and includes an external antenna connector so one of Buffalo's wireless antennas can be attached to increase the wireless signal. The router also features Buffalo's new Client Manager 3, which allows for AOSS to be used on other manufacturers' client devices. The router also includes channel bonding for even better throughput rates.

AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless PCI Adapter (WLI-PCI-G300N) and AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G300N)

Buffalo's new Nfiniti Wireless PCI Adapter can be installed into desktops with either full size or low profile PCI slots. Buffalo's new Notebook Adapter is a 32-bit CardBus card, which is compatible with any notebook PC with a Type II or Type III PC card slot. Both devices feature an external antenna connector, which allows users to connect an external antenna and solve additional distance issues for users with wireless embedded notebooks.

Both of Buffalo's new IEEE 802.11n draft specification Wi-Fi solutions are designed to be backwards compatible with legacy WLAN devices on the 2.4Ghz band. The products feature Buffalo's patent-pending AOSS(tm) (One-Touch Secure System) technology -- the easiest and most secure one-touch wireless setup system available on the market today. The products also include advanced security features such as WPA-PSK with AES support, 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, and SPI Firewall.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Router and AP (WZR-G300N) and the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G300N) are immediately available estimated street prices of $179 for the router and $129 for the notebook adapter. The AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless PCI Adapter (WLI-PCI-G300N) will be available in May for an estimated street price of $129. The products that are now available can be purchased at http://www.pcconnection.com and will soon be available for purchase through additional retailers, online resellers and Buffalo's web site.
