Braintech and ABB Launch Vision Guided Robotics Channel Partner Program

ABB Recruits CIM SYSTEMS as First Certified TrueView Integrator

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Braintech, Inc. (OTCBB:BRHI), a leading provider of Vision Guided Robotic (VGR) software, announced today that it has received its first order for its eVF(tm) software as part of global robotics giant ABB's Channel Partner VGR market expansion initiative. eVF, the vision part of ABB's TrueView(tm) VGR system, is designed specifically to allow engineering groups to easily build and support a new breed of intelligent, vision controlled robotic applications.

Proven in the field, ABB's TrueView systems are changing the very fabric of automation by eliminating the need to use highly structured and fixtured manufacturing technologies. This revolutionary change provides ABB's Channel Partners with unlimited new business opportunities.

The order, from ABB Channel Partner CIM SYSTEMS INC, is for a pair of proven TrueView cells using Braintech's award-winning SC3D(tm) guidance technology to palletize V8 engine blocks. The system is unique because it acts as an "infinite buffer" which allows the blocks to be packed in or packed out between machining applications.

Dave Fox, President of CIM SYSTEMS in Noblesville, Indiana, sees great opportunity for TrueView products. "We've already quoted several additional TrueView systems since becoming certified earlier this year. Successfully adding vision to robots creates new opportunities for customers to automate their operations, particularly in the area of material handling."

ABB Channel Partners received training to become TrueView Certified at ABB's North American Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The process includes training on Braintech's eVisionFactory(tm) software, robot programming procedures and system integration, to ensure TrueView quality standards compliance.

CIM SYSTEMS engineer Rick Lemberg, who attended the certification training, comments, "The TrueView system is an extremely powerful robot guidance tool. It's also surprisingly user friendly and simple to interface with. This is a plus for both the integrator and the customer."

Commenting on the purchase, Vice President and General Manager of ABB's Robot Automation, Jerry Osborn, stated, "This is the first of several ABB Channel Partners that ABB intends to certify for TrueView sales and installations outside of the ABB network of direct customers -- a key component of expanding into the automotive tier, heavy duty trucking and general industry marketplace."

Owen Jones, Braintech's CEO, commented, "Channel Partners will play a big part in ABB's globalization efforts, especially in general industry categories. Our role is to support recruitment, training and support of ABB's growing network of certified TrueView Channel Partners."
