IRVINE, Calif., June 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vision Solutions, a leading high availability solution provider to the Global 5000, today announced the latest release of its ORION high availability (HA) software. ORION for i5/OS v1.2 SR-2 has been developed to support the demanding and complex environments of both enterprise and SMB customers.
This new release supports IBM's latest V5R4 iSeries operating system. This allows ORION users to leverage new features of i5/OS V5R4, and includes enhancements to replication capabilities and group mode support, as well as improved interface synchronization for mirroring between OMS/400 and ODS/400 products.
Logical file mirroring is a key feature of this release, providing the ability to replicate changes to logical files. This is achieved by using the journal entries deposited in the database journal associated with the physical file with which the logical file has dependencies. The logical file mirroring enhancement ensures that changes to physical and logical files are processed correctly in OMS/400 and by the same apply job.
Additional features include minimized journal data with CRC, ODS mirroring of spool files in iASPs, improved support for clustering-based role-swaps and enhanced group mode support.
This release also enables enhanced performance of large enterprise level deployments through its support of MAXOPT3, a new receiver size option that provides an increased sequence number of journal entries. Support of MAXOPT3 further enhances ORION's autonomics capabilities by minimizing the need for the manual initiation of a journal sequence reset, while at the same time ensuring no downtime results when it does occur.
ORION Navigator for i5/OS, the user-friendly dashboard management system for ORION, has also been enhanced for the i5/OS by enabling the consolidation service component to be installed directly on the iSeries systems that are already configured for ORION for i5/OS.
ORION for i5/OS is available in two editions designed to meet the full spectrum of customer requirements, ranging from SMBs to highly sophisticated large enterprise-level deployments. ORION Standard Edition supports standalone i5/OS environments with medium transaction volume supporting disaster recovery or high availability. ORION Datacenter Edition is designed for enterprise i5/OS environments that support centrally managed high availability with high transaction volume, multi-platform and clustered environments that are integrated with AIX, Linux or Windows.
