Buffalo Expands Its Award-Winning Line of NAS Devices With the LinkStation Pro

Built for Business Users, the LinkStation Pro Offers SMBs Enterprise-Class Features and Transfer Rates Reaching Over 30MB/s -- the Fastest on the Market Today

AUSTIN, Texas, July 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage, multimedia and memory solutions, today announced it is expanding its award-winning line of LinkStation Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices with the business-targeted LinkStation Pro. The product is available in capacities of 250GB (LS-250GL), 300GB (LS-300GL), 400GB (LS-400GL), 500GB (LS-500GL) and 750GB (LS-750GL).

The LinkStation Pro simplifies file storage and sharing and offers business users a professional feature-set, which includes SATA (Serial ATA) and Active Directory Support, which allows the device to utilize domain users and groups. The product includes a high-speed processor for ultra-fast data transfer rates of up to 35MB/s. Current competing or similarly priced NAS devices are only capable of reaching transfer rates of 5MB/s to 8MB/s.

"There really aren't any NAS devices on the market that perfectly meet the growing network demands for small businesses. They either lack the necessary features or they are too expensive and complicated for a small business, which typically lacks the internal resources for maintaining complex network devices," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. "With the LinkStation Pro, we are directly addressing our SMB customers' needs and providing them a high-performance, feature-rich NAS device that is basically maintenance-free and highly affordable. The LinkStation Pro truly is the perfect NAS device for any business that wants to store, share and secure its mission-critical data. There simply isn't another NAS device like it on the market today."

Buffalo's LinkStation Pro is Windows and Macintosh compatible and includes an Auto MDIX - 10/100/1000 gigabit Ethernet port. Users can attach a USB hard drive for additional storage and two or more LinkStation Pro devices can be added to backup each other over the network. The product offers minimal power consumption with its ability to automatically power on or off. Administrators can set group or user-level security. For additional data protection, the LinkStation Pro includes Memeo(TM) AutoBackup software for Windows. It includes a Heat Sink chassis for cooling, which is ideal for stacking and space saving.

Backed by a limited one-year warranty and toll-free, 24/7 technical support, the LinkStation Pro will be available at the end of July at estimated street prices of $299 for the 250GB (LS-250GL); $379 for the 300GB (LS-300GL); $479 for the 400GB (LS-400GL); $649 for the 500GB (LS-500GL) and $899 for the 750GB (LS-750GL). The product is available via retail outlets, resellers and Buffalo's web site.
