Annual Event to Benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The twelfth annual Sippin' by the River outdoor wine and beer tasting festival will take place on Sunday, September 17, from 1 to 5 p.m., rain or shine, on Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Columbus Boulevard at Spring Garden Street, in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia's premiere waterfront destination features world-famous wines and beers and gourmet cuisine from area restaurants in this sophisticated CCFA benefit. At the event, visitors can also enjoy food sampling, cooking demonstrations, and live entertainment from the band DAME. Whether listening to the sounds of Carlo Morelli's Sounds of Sinatra in the wine area or sampling authentic beer and food in the special German and Belgian pavilions or talking to wine expert Robert Peters in the Wine Ambassador booth, attendees can treat themselves to a day of relaxation and elegance.

Tickets cost $25 per person if purchased in advance, or $30 on the day of the event. Beginning today, tickets may be purchased online at www.sippinbytheriver.com, by calling (215) 893-1999, or by visiting the Box Office at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, located at Broad and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia. Tickets are limited and may sell out prior to the event. Those under 21 years of age will not be permitted to sample wine or beer. Proof of legal age is required.

For beer and wine enthusiasts looking for truly unique experience, Sippin' by the River provides an exclusive VIP area where attendees can enjoy the afternoon under a large air-conditioned tent. VIP admission entitles donors to enjoy a variety of gourmet foods, sample select wines and beers, and participate in tutored tastings by media wine personality John McNulty and beer expert Gary Monterosso.

Tickets for the VIP tent are available for $175 each or $1,250 for a table of 8 and must be purchased in advance. For more information about VIP tables, please email Philadelphia@ccfa.org.

Proceeds from Sippin' by the River, which topped more than $75,000 last year, benefit research, education, and support programs for people suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis -- chronic digestive disorders of the small and large intestines collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Currently, IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans.

CCFA, a voluntary, non-profit national organization, seeks to cure and prevent Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support. To contact the local CCFA office, call 215-396-9100 or write: CCFA, 367 E. Street Road, Trevose, PA 19053 or visit www.ccfa.org.
