GSI Group Announces $5M Purchase Order for Mixed Signal Systems


BILLERICA, Mass., Aug. 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- GSI Group Inc. (Nasdaq:GSIG) announced a multiple system purchase order in excess of $5 million for WaferTrim systems, used for the production of mixed signal analog and power management devices. Deliveries are scheduled to be later this year.

According to Nino Federico, V.P. and General Manager for the company's Semiconductor Systems Group, "Both the automotive and consumer drivers for the wafer trimming business have been strong in 2006. Sales of WaferTrim systems have corresponded directly to the needs of the portable electronics segments which include cell phones, MP3 players, personal video players, and the increasing semiconductor and sensor content in the automotive sector."
