AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch

HOUSTON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 20, 2006 -- Texas gasoline prices continued to edge lower for the eleventh consecutive week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Corpus Christi motorists are paying an average of $2.021 for a gallon of gas -- the lowest price on the list. El Paso has the highest average on this week's survey at $2.189 a gallon -- a weekly decrease of six cents.

"The pace of decline in the statewide average price of self-serve regular gasoline appears to have slowed a bit within the last couple of weeks, which may suggest that retail gas prices could be reaching a point of leveling off," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "Pump prices have fallen 81 cents a gallon since nearing a record high of $2.916 a gallon on July 28th."

The national average for regular self-serve gasoline fell three cents to $2.220 a gallon.
