SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nayna Networks, Inc. (OTCBB:NAYN), a provider of next generation network solutions, today unveiled it has added the AN12000 to its global ExpressLIGHT product offerings. The AN12000 provides next generation Ethernet over SONET/SDH (EOS) and OC-12/STM-4 capability to Nayna's ExpressLIGHT SONET/SDH product line. The new ExpressLIGHT platform delivers a number of dramatic improvements over existing SONET/SDH products including:
-- Ethernet Over SONET/SDH (EOS): The advanced AN12000 uses the critical new technology of Virtual Concatenation (VCat) to solve service providers' need for flexible bandwidth for packetized Ethernet streams over SONET/SDH hierarchical structures. The AN12000 fragments the Ethernet payload and distributes it among multiple SONET/SDH containers. In this way SONET/SDH networks can retain their structured, channelized hierarchical frame structures while at the same time carving out different sized Ethernet streams within a SONET/SDH pipe. -- One Solution for both Add/Drop and Terminating Sites: The ExpressLIGHT AN12000 handles both Add/Drop (in-the-middle) and terminating (end-to-end) Ethernet over SONET/SDH applications. Logistics and training are simplified because a single AN12000 can be configured as an Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) for cost effectively implementing multiple (in-the-middle) sites often used by service providers and as an end-subscriber Terminating Multiplexer (TM). Terminal Multiplexers are often found at larger subscriber buildings and at end-of-link locations. In summary, one system addresses several types of site locations with reduced logistical and operating costs. -- Multiple Services & Multiple Traffic Types: The AN12000 is a multiple service/traffic type platform with built-in Generic Framing Protocol (GFP) capabilities for future-proofing the deployed network. Service providers and larger enterprises use GFP to encapsulate variable length payloads of various client traffic types for subsequent transport over SONET/SDH networks. The advantage of GFP is that it provides a unified way to encapsulate various traffic types without the need for specific application recapping throughout the network. The result is lower complexity and overall lower lifetime ownership costs. -- Integrated Grooming Matrix Reduces Waste: To eliminate significant, but common, wastage of bandwidth in SONET/SDH networks, the AN12000 incorporates a state-of-the-art groom matrix for finer routing granularity. The base AN12000 can deliver 756 x 756 VC 12 granularity, non-blocking and full function integrated cross connect switch fabric with an option for an enhanced 1008 x 1008 matrix. Fine grooming allows service providers to effectively integrate voice, data, and streaming media traffic in a variety of bandwidth savings configurations. The bandwidth saved can then be resold to increase revenues. -- Hitless Capacity Resizing: For greatly enhanced service quality, the ExpressLIGHT AN12000 relies on a sophisticated Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS) to provide hitless link capacity resizing. As not a single bit will be lost, hitless resizing in metropolitan areas can potentially save thousands of subscribers from traffic interruption. LCAS provides two mission critical functions for carriers' EOS networks: accommodating shifting bandwidth requirements without traffic loss and bandwidth and the money saving ability to reroute traffic to recover stranded bandwidth. -- Variety of Interfaces in a compact size: The multi-service AN12000 SONET/SDH platform uniquely supports 10/100BaseT/FX Ethernet and 1000Base LH/LX Gigabit Ethernet (for computer support) as well as the full range of TDM interfaces from T1/E1 (for PBX support) to STM-1 within a single compact unit measuring just 7 inches (4 Rack Units/RU) tall. That is a 60% space savings compared to traditional SONET/SDH multiplexers that can be as tall as 10 rack units. The AN12000's smaller size directly results in lower monthly real estate savings at both the central office and at remote locations. -- Designed for Reliability: For improved reliability and reduced costs associated with downtime, the AN12000 can provide full redundancy. For ease of maintenance, all cards can be quickly hot-swapped without powering down the entire system. To further improve reliability and uptime, all fans and associated electromechanical sub-systems have been eliminated. The elimination of forced cooling also results in monthly energy savings for the service provider. -- Fast Service Activation: A key challenge for service providers is the ability to offer service activation with an assured subscriber experience. To meet the service activation challenge, Nayna has embellished the AN12000 with superior intelligence and management capability. Using robust and field proven SNMP technology, the AN12000 can be remotely managed from an industry compliant SNMP v2c manager. By using an SNMP foundation, Nayna Networks enables service providers to integrate the benefits of the AN12000 into their existing multi-vendor networks with maximum usability.
Current users of the AN3000 can upgrade to the AN12000 in the field with minimal network downtime.
"The AN12000 is a very cost-effective solution for service providers who need increased capacity on their SONET/SDH networks," noted Jim Connor, Director of Marketing, Nayna Networks, Inc. "In applications such as wireless backhaul, business parks, or even apartment blocks, the AN12000 is an optimal solution to meet the need to expand, upgrade and support Ethernet over existing fiber."
