TiE-SoCal Adds Three New Keynotes, Including: Founder of PayPal, to TiECON Southwest 2006 "Innovation Meets Globalization"

Max Levchin, Founder of PayPal, Ajay Shah of Shah Capital Partners, and Jim Armstrong of Clearstone Venture Partners Join the Growing List of Influential Entrepreneurs and Industry Leaders to Discuss the Melding of Technology and Globalization In Businesses


ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 24, 2006 -- TiECON SoCal Chapter announces newly added presenters for TiECON Southwest 2006, held in Orange County, CA on November 3rd and 4th. TiECON has added three keynote speakers to the list of widely acclaimed business leaders presenting at this year's conference. Keynote speakers already confirmed include: Tim Draper, Sabeer Bhatia and Blair Westlake.

New speakers include: Max Levchin, co-founder of PayPal and Chairman/CEO of Slide, which delivers content directly to a consumer's desktop in a digital Slideshow format, making it much simpler for people to consume information online. At PayPal, Levchin was instrumental in combating fraud and identity theft. Levchin stayed with PayPal as CTO from 1999 until the first public offering when the company was purchased by eBay for $1.5 billion.

Ajay Shah is a managing partner and co-founder for a leading mid marketing technology private equity fund, Shah Capital Partners, which currently manages $300 million in committed funds. Shah also serves as Chairman of Smart Modular Technologies, which he co-founded in 1989, and is on the board of numerous technology organizations. Previously, he was the President and CEO of the Technology Solutions Business of Solectron Corporation. Smart Modular Technologies was acquired by Solectron for $2.2 billion.

Jim Armstrong is Managing Director of Clearstone Venture Partners. Armstrong is an early stage investor of consumer technology companies and has established himself as a leading investor and company builder. He focuses on security, information management, and online businesses. Armstrong was recognized in 2004, 2005, and 2006 as one of the top 100 Venture Capitalists by Forbes Magazine in the annual Midas List.
