Vinod Khosla, Veteran Entrepreneur and Social Activist, Joins All Star Line-Up at TiECON Southwest

Top-Ranked Venture Capitalist, Vinod Khosla, of Kleiner Perkins and Khosla Ventures, Has Just Been Added to the List of Keynotes at TiECON Southwest 2006 "Innovation Meets Globalization"


ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 1, 2006 -- TiECON announced today the addition of Vinod Khosla to speak at TiECON Southwest 2006. Mr. Khosla, of Kleiner Perkins and Khosla Ventures, will speak at the conference on November 3rd at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, CA.

Mr. Khosla has an extensive history as an entrepreneur and investor with a commitment to social and environmental causes. He was the founding CEO of Sun Microsystems and helped to launch Daisy Systems, a pioneer in electronic design automation. Khosla is an affiliated partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. He is also the founder of Khosla Ventures, which offers venture assistance, strategic advice and capital for both "for profit" and "social impact" ventures. Khosla was integral in founding a number of firms, including: NexGen, Excite, @Home Network, Juniper Networks, and Corvis. Khosla serves on the boards of EASIC (programmable ASIC platform), Infinera (optical communications), Kovio (printed electronics), Skyblue (internet PC), Spatial Photonics (Micromirror displays), Xsigo (datacenter switch) and others. In 1999, Khosla was a finalist for the World Technology Award. He is also a founding member of The Indus Entrepreneurs.

Mr. Khosla is a major advocate for the development of alternative energy sources. He is an investor in a number of firms that are involved in biofuels and bioplastics and is co-chair of the "Yes on Prop 87" initiative in California. He is also passionate about Social Entrepreneurship with a special emphasis on Microfinance as a tool for alleviating poverty. Fortune magazine recently labeled him as one the nation's most influential ethanol advocates.
