COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Nov. 7, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- In October 2006, the total number of passengers in Copenhagen Airport increased by 40,673 passengers (+2.2%) compared with October 2005. The number of passengers increased due to, amongst other things, a growth in the number of domestic passengers. This growth is influenced by increased competition as a result of the repeal of the passengers charge by the Danish government.
Breakdown of departing passengers
The number of locally departing passengers increased by 45,760 passengers (+7.5%). The number of transfer/transit passengers decreased by 24,974 passengers (-7.8%).
International passengers
The number of scheduled international passengers increased by 31,491 passengers (+2.0%), while the number of international charter passengers decreased by 11,242 (-10.2%). Consequently, the total number of international passengers increased by 20,141 passengers (+1.2%).
Domestic passengers
The total number of domestic passengers increased by 20,532 passengers (+13.4%) compared with October 2005.
Operations and take-off weight
In October 2006, the total number of take-offs and landings decreased by 621 operations (-2.6%), while the tonnage decreased by 6,489 tonnes (-0.9%) compared with October 2005.
