ProCurve Solidifies #2 Ranking in the Ethernet Switch Market

H-3C Quickly Becoming a Formidable Threat

RENO, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 29, 2006 -- According to Synergy Research Group's recently published Worldwide Q3 2006 Ethernet Switch Market Share report, ProCurve advanced for the third straight quarter in market share gains and once again reinforced its claim for the #2 position after Cisco in an increasingly competitive Ethernet Switch market.

"Contributing to ProCurve's success has been its ability to ship new PoE products to meet the strong demand being driven by increased Wireless and IP Telephony deployments," said Katie Trippet, Analyst at Synergy Research Group. "ProCurve's PoE shipments increased 83% in Q3 after a strong increase of 133% in Q2. Cisco also benefited from increased PoE demand with shipment increases of 66% in Q3."

Another fast growing Ethernet Switch segment in the quarter was Gigabit LY3 Modular, which grew sequentially 22% for both revenue and port shipments. In this market, ProCurve grew its market share position by almost 1.5 market share points. Cisco, Foundry, and H-3C also benefited from the growing demand of Gigabit LY3 Modular.

Other notable advances in the quarter came from D-LINK, who outshipped Cisco/Linksys and captured the #1 position from NETGEAR for Unmanaged LY2 Fixed Switches. In addition, Cisco regained its #1 position from F5 in the Content Switch market.
