Red Hat Enterprise Server System Administrators Needed for Beta Testing of Xandros Cross-Platform Unified Management Tools

Xandros Seeks Testers of Cross-Platform Management Tools From a Diversity of Enterprise Environments

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 19, 2006 -- Xandros, the leading provider of easy-to-use end-to-end Linux solutions, today put out a call to Red Hat Enterprise Server system administrators to sign-up for the beta testing of Xandros' new cross-platform server management and monitoring tools. The tools will enable Red Hat administrators to manage multiple Red Hat Enterprise servers on various hardware architectures utilizing the same applications and management components employed in the Xandros Server, winner of the Product Excellence Award for the best Integration Solution. These components include Xandros' revolutionary managed community and workflow-driven application dependencies management that prevent problems from occurring, versus resolving them after the fact. With the Xandros management tools for Red Hat, setting up and managing a Red Hat server will be as easy as setting up and managing a Xandros Server, for which Windows administration expertise is usually sufficient, without the need for extensive Linux or Red Hat training.

Announcement and release of these cross-platform, cross-domain management tools represent the final stage in the realization of Xandros' end-to-end next generation Linux solutions strategy, which was first articulated at the time of the initial Xandros Server release in April 2006. That strategy seeks to leverage Xandros' historical leadership in value-add technology and architecture to facilitate desktop and server co-existence and cross-platform management in today's typical mixed Windows and Linux or Unix enterprise environment. Platform co-existence and management in these heterogeneous enterprise environments has become ever more difficult, since they employ a diversity of servers and desktops (Windows, Sun Solaris Unix, Red Hat, Oracle, Novell, and other Linux). The management of such a server/desktop mix normally entails a diversity of silo-oriented management tools, each designed to manage a particular platform and run on a different host (Windows, Linux or Unix). At the same time, the deployed infrastructure system management tools and consoles (IBM Tivoli, Microsoft MMC, CA Unicenter, HP Open View, BMC, and others) may have little or no visibility in the management of these server and desktop resources.

"We are entering the final phase of the long-planned development of our server administration tools for mixed IT infrastructures and our Quality Assurance team is looking for beta testers with all types and levels of Red Hat Linux server administration experience to put our software to the acid test," said Ming Poon, Xandros VP of Product Development. "Deploying and managing Linux servers in enterprise settings is often a complex and time consuming process involving a lot of trial and error. The arrival of our integrated management console and our unique Managed Community and Workflow-based look-ahead model of server management will eliminate much of that pain and drastically reduce in-house administration costs or the need for outside services."

Xandros beta programs are conducted to garner insights from potential users and to assure that the forthcoming Xandros product releases meet the highest standards for stability and ease of use.

Red Hat server administrators interested in testing the new tools are invited to apply at: www.xandros.com/beta.
