Buffalo Enhances Portable Storage With Its New USB 2.0 Flash Drives

The Sleek, Compact Drives Combine Convenience and Style With Security and Performance, Allowing Users to Easily Store and Transfer Valuable Digital Files

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- 2007 International CES (BOOTH # Renaissance 26) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless and wired networking, storage and memory solutions, today announced it has expanded its high-performance line of memory products with its new USB 2.0 Flash Drives. The products are designed to instantly exchange and secure large volumes of digital data such as photos, videos or mission-critical business files.

Buffalo's new line of USB 2.0 Flash Drives offers two levels of performance: the High Speed Type E and the Ultra High Speed Type S. The High Speed Type E is economically ideal for everyday use. The Ultra High Speed Type S is designed specifically for rapidly transferring high-volume files -- up to 1GB of data in less than one minute -- and is fully compatible with Microsoft Vista's Ready Boost technology. The Type E drives are available in capacities of 128MB (RUF2-E128M-BK), 256MB (RUF2-E256M-BK), 512MB (RUF2-E512M-BK), 1GB (RUF2-E1G-BK), and 2GB (RUF2-E2G-BK). The Ultra High Speed Type S drives are available in capacities of 256MB (RUF2-S256-WH), 512MB (RUF2-S512-WH), 1GB (RUF2-S1G-WH) and 2GB (RUF2-S2G-WH).

"In the age of mobility, portability and security are essential for both business and personal users when it comes to transporting important digital content," said Kerry Morris, director of the memory division at Buffalo Technology. "Buffalo's new flash drives not only provide the convenience of being able to quickly and easily take your computer data with you; they give you the flexibility to choose the performance level and capacity that fits your needs while offering enhanced security features to ensure your data is protected while on-the-go."

Buffalo's new Type S USB 2.0 Flash Drives offer read speeds of 27MB/s and write speeds of 18MB/s. The drives' Single Level Cell (SLC) chips further boost performance by doubling the transfer rates. Both the Type S and Type E drives include SecureLockWare(tm) -- Buffalo's powerful encryption software, which uses the AES encryption algorithm to secure data, making it virtually impossible for unauthorized users to extract data from the devices. SecureLockWare(tm) offers a range of security options, such as Drive Encryption to encrypt the entire device and File/Folder Encryption to encrypt individual files or folders with various settings such as encryption strength and default file destination. The devices are plug-and-play and include an attachable cap and an extension cable. At about the size of a stick of gum, these tiny yet powerful devices are the ideal mobility solution for any consumer or business user.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, Buffalo's new line of USB 2.0 Flash Drives are now available. The High Speed Type E drives are available at an MSRP of:

 * $9 for the 128MB (RUF2-E128M-BK)
