Aquila Assisting Ameren With Ice Storm Recovery

PUEBLO, Colo., Jan. 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Aquila (NYSE:ILA) today announced that twelve linemen and one supervisor were sent to help restore power in storm-stricken southwestern Missouri. Aquila employees traveled from Pueblo and Canon City to help Missouri customers served by Ameren Electric Company, based in St. Charles, Mo.

Aquila employees are expected to be in southwestern Missouri for up to ten days where the weekend winter storm left approximately 156,000 Ameren customers without power.

"Electricity is a vital service and that's why utility personnel from various companies work side-by-side to restore power when storms of this magnitude strike," said Gary Stone, operating vice president for Aquila in Colorado.

Based in Kansas City, Mo., Aquila owns electric power generation and operates electric and natural gas transmission and distribution networks serving nearly 1 million customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. More information is available at www.aquila.com
