Egenera Partners With Symantec to Provide Expanded Enterprise High-Availability Options Through Qualification on Veritas Cluster Server
| Source: Egenera
MARLBORO, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 24, 2007 -- Egenera Inc., a global leader in datacenter
virtualization architecture, today announced that it has qualified Veritas
Cluster Server from Symantec to run on the Egenera® BladeFrame® system
through participation in the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP).
The new qualification further expands the choices that customers have in
deploying fully-supported, enterprise-class software on the Egenera
BladeFrame system.
Cluster Server is an industry leading clustering solution for reducing both
planned and unplanned downtime. By monitoring the status of applications
and automatically moving them to another server in the event of a fault,
Cluster Server can dramatically increase the availability of an application
or database. When combined with the BladeFrame system, the joint solution
further expands the range of high-availability and disaster recovery
options for enterprise datacenters.
"Symantec continues to build on its relationship with Egenera by supporting
the qualification of Egenera BladeFrame system with Veritas Cluster Server,
which addresses the needs of customers looking to expand their
high-availability options," said Raja Srinivasan, senior manager, Symantec
Technology Enabled Program.
As a STEP member, Egenera integrates the BladeFrame system with qualified
software products from Symantec. The new Cluster Server qualification
extends Symantec's role in the Egenera Assured Solution Alliances program,
which leverages an assurance process designed to ensure the
interoperability of third-party software solutions running on the
BladeFrame. Symantec's newly expanded role within the Assured Solution
program will allow a broader set of Symantec solutions to be tested and
certified for use on the Egenera platform.
"We're very pleased to have this additional qualification with Symantec,"
said Kathy Yenke, vice president, Business Development, Egenera. "With the
Cluster Server announcement, we've broadened our high-availability
offerings and continued to deliver on our promise of providing customers
with maximum choice and flexibility. We look forward to qualifying
additional joint solutions with Symantec in the future."
Together, Egenera and Symantec facilitate interoperability testing and
support for Symantec storage management products on the Egenera
BladeFrame system. The collaborative efforts of both companies include
product integration, qualification, maintenance and ongoing technical
support across heterogeneous environments, giving joint customers the
assurance that they receive optimal performance, reliability and
world-class support.
