More Than Half Will Spend At Least $50 On Valentine's Day According to Inaugural MyPoints.com Valentine's Day Survey

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Feb. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- More than half of those who participated in the MyPoints.com inaugural Valentine's survey said they will spend at least $50 on their significant other this year for Valentine's Day. Almost 40 percent plan on spending between $50 and $200, while six percent said they will spend more than $200. MyPoints.com, a leading frequent shopper loyalty Web site, polled 6,000 of its 10 million members about Valentine's Day participation and spending plans.

What kinds of gifts will they be buying? According to the survey, the most popular gift, cited by 71 percent of respondents, is a greeting card, followed by an evening out (52%), candy (43%), flowers (32%) and gift cards (17%). Conversely, the item that members most hope to receive on Valentine's Day is an evening out (44%).

The survey found that MyPoints members do not plan on limiting their Valentine's Day gift giving to their significant others. Many respondents plan on buying gifts for themselves (28%), co-workers (17%), others, including their neighbors and family members (13%), and even pets (20%).
