Andrews Space Launches Satellite Office in Huntsville

SEATTLE, May 2, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Andrews Space, Inc. (Andrews) announced the opening of an office in Huntsville, AL, near the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and U.S. Army Redstone Arsenal. The new office, located at 555 Sparkman Dr., Suite 600-C, allows Andrews to strengthen its business and expand its role in space exploration and national defense initiatives.

Andrews is an integrator of aerospace systems that specializes in systems engineering and integration. A small, minority woman owned business, Andrews has worked for NASA, the Department of Defense, and aerospace prime contractors.

"Our Huntsville office will focus on supporting existing customers while pursuing new business that takes advantage of our unique capabilities," said Marian Joh, Andrews CEO. "Being in Huntsville allows us to better serve NASA, the Department of Defense (DoD), and other local customers with immediate and direct support."

Andrews currently supports Alliant Techsystems (ATK) on the Ares I First Stage, performing safety and mission assurance and other systems engineering functions. The Ares I Crew Launch Vehicle will launch the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle as the first element of NASA's Vision for Space Exploration that includes returning humans to the moon.

Andrews is also working with Rocketplane Kistler to develop the K-1, a fully reusable launch vehicle for NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program. On COTS, Andrews is responsible for system integration, development and operation of the pressurized and unpressurized cargo modules, and conducting mission operations.

"Ares I and COTS are both critical to our country's exploration efforts," said Jason Andrews, president of Andrews. "We are excited to establish and grow our presence in Huntsville. Our mission is to be a catalyst in the development and commercialization of space, and Huntsville plays a critical role in these endeavors."

Andrews also announced the appointment of Andy Crocker as Manager of Huntsville Operations. Crocker will lead the company's pursuit of supporting roles on the Ares I Upper Stage, Ares I Instrument Unit Avionics, and various Missile Defense contracts. In previous assignments at Andrews, Mr. Crocker directed multi-million dollar studies of innovative space transportation architectures, such as the company's Gryphon horizontal takeoff and landing vehicle concept, and directed technology development projects.

"I'm proud to represent Andrews, a dynamic, growing company, in Huntsville, a vibrant community at the forefront of the aerospace industry's most exciting developments," said Crocker.
