Rockwell Collins International Selects EMS SATCOM to Develop New Satcom System

System for Installation On Boeing's New 747-8 Aircraft

OTTAWA and PARIS, June 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), reported at the Paris Air Show today that Rockwell Collins has selected the company to develop a Satcom system for the Boeing 747-8. Based on orders forecast for the 747-8 alone, the agreement is worth approximately $15M to EMS SATCOM over the next 10 years.

This agreement is one of a series of wins by EMS SATCOM, which will result in its technology and products being installed as standard equipment on all the largest passenger aircraft, including the Boeing 747-8 and the A380, and as factory options on the Airbus A340, A330 and A320.

Boeing launched the new 747-8 Intercontinental passenger airplane and the 747-8 Freighter in November 2005. As reported in February 2007, the program had secured orders for 24 747-8 Intercontinentals and 54 747-8 Freighters.

"This agreement will see our SwiftBroadband technology on both the passenger and freight versions of the aircraft," says EMS SATCOM Vice President and General Manager, Gary Hebb. "We are enthusiastic about providing this system for Rockwell Collins, and recognize the increasing demand for Inmarsat SwiftBroadband Services which promise high data rates at a lower cost."

EMS is seeing even stronger interest in in-flight connectivity globally, particularly in Europe, which will be the first to offer such services later this year.

"The rising trend in Europe and in parts of Asia where airlines are starting to offer more in-flight communications services will help to drive the North American demand for such services," said Paul Domorski, president and CEO, EMS Technologies. "We are extremely pleased to be working with Rockwell Collins to deploy the most advanced broadband communications infrastructure available to Boeing's newest 747-class jetliner. Building on our success in military and corporate aero-broadband systems, this new solution is another step toward EMS Technologies' vision of universal communication through systems that give our customers unprecedented mobility, intelligence and visibility."
