Artists' Fine Art Limited Edition Prints Will be
Featured in Fall 2007
SEYMOUR, Conn., July 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Greenwich Workshop(r) artist Howard Terpning's Lady of the House sold for $756,000, more than double its pre-sale estimate, at Prix de West, The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's prestigious invitational art exhibit of nearly 300 Western paintings and sculpture. Additionally, both Terpning and Greenwich Workshop artist Christopher Blossom received awards for their work: Terpning won the Oklahoma Centennial Award (for Lady of the House); Blossom, for the second year in a row, received the Robert Lougheed Memorial Award for his display of four works, "Benjamin F. Packard" Entering San Francisco Bay, Done for the Day, Meandering Wind River Stream and San Francisco Pilot "America." This award and its $3,000 prize honors the artist with the best display of three or more works at the 2007 Prix de West Purchase Award at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Terpning, one of the most lauded artists in Western art, has won numerous awards for his moving portrayals of Native American Indians. Earlier this year The Shaman and His Magic Feathers sold for $1.31 million, the fourth time a Terpning has sold for more than $1 million, at The Autry Center's Museum of the American West's Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale. The Greenwich Workshop's suggested retail of Terpning's Limited Edition Fine Art Canvases (Giclee) runs between $650-$2,950. On the secondary market, prices for certain works can range from $5,000-$17,500.
The continued strong pricing of Terpning's original work -- and the work of other Greenwich Workshop artists at events such as the Prix de West -- supports the value of his work in limited editions, which in turn, dramatically extends the artist's reach in today's marketplace.
Christopher Blossom, saluted as an undisputed master of marine art, has exhibited his art at the Gilcrease Museum, the Colorado Museum of History, the Prix de West Invitational and the Artists of America show. Almost the only time he isn't painting is when he is sailing, visiting ports of call in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, the Bahamas, California and Washington state, and he recently spent a year sailing around the Caribbean with his wife and two sons.
Work by Howard Terpning and Christopher Blossom will be featured in Greenwich Workshop's Fall 2007 catalog.
