COSTA MESA, Calif., Sept. 4, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) today commended LG Telecom on their announcement to make CDMA2000(r) 1xEV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) commercially available to their subscribers. The operator is currently deploying Rev. A in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan areas, rapidly propelling the market toward 3G. By the end of October, and ahead of schedule, LG Telecom will have completed the upgrade in 84 cities, securing 93% coverage of the population.

LG Telecom will launch two types of Rev. A phones in September 2007, with three additional models planned by the end of the year. Rev. A is the most advanced wireless broadband technology commercially available today, allowing for more integrated IP-based voice, video and data services, such as rich voice, push-to-connect, low-delay gaming and packet-switched video telephony. Rev. A also will enable a smooth upgrade to 1xEV-DO Revisions B and Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) within the next few years.
