SWsoft Unveils Beta of Virtuozzo 4.0

Major New Version of Server Virtualization Software Adds 50+ Features and Enhancements, Including Clustering, Real-time Backups, and a Redesigned Interface for Improved Usability, Manageability and Flexibility

HERNDON, Va., Sept. 10, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SWsoft, the world's second-largest overall virtualization software company, today unveiled the beta version of Virtuozzo 4.0 -- SWsoft's industry-leading operating system (OS) virtualization software for data centers. SWsoft will be demonstrating Virtuozzo 4.0 this week at VMworld in booth 1312 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

SWsoft Virtuozzo is different from traditional hardware virtualization solutions in that it dynamically partitions a single Windows or Linux operating system instance into highly efficient and scalable virtual environments or "containers." Virtuozzo is the only virtualization solution that enables dozens to hundreds of containers to immediately and automatically leverage real hardware, resulting in exceptional datacenter efficiency from administrative, ROI, and energy-consumption perspectives.

Virtuozzo 4.0's improved OS virtualization technology solves many of the common performance, density, usability and infrastructure compatibility issues that plague traditional hardware virtualization solutions via a number of improvements and new features, including:

 * Enhanced Usability - A redesigned interface that offers access to
   centralized resources, such as easy-to-use application templates
   and sample containers, plus streamlined installation;

 * High Availability - Virtuozzo 4.0 includes several new options to
   drive uptime, such as Windows Server 2003 and Red Hat clustering
   services, as well as real-time backups across Windows and Linux
   platforms;

 * Complete Management Flexibility - Arrange and manage virtual
   containers and Virtuozzo servers according to either the actual
   hardware infrastructure, or logically group them according to user
   preference.

"We have been in production with Virtuozzo often running 25 or more Virtuozzo containers on a single server at speeds that rival that of real dedicated boxes," said Chris Stucker from AET Films. "Virtuozzo's high-density, great management tools, low overhead and simple setup have dramatically simplified our IT infrastructure by reducing OS and server sprawl and saved us thousands in hardware and operating costs. We're excited to use version 4.0's new high-availability and management enhancements to help us further drive productivity and efficiency in our datacenter, and to foster even higher savings."

More information about how customers are using Virtuozzo OS virtualization can be found at www.swsoft.com/en/products/virtuozzo/spotlights.

"Virtuozzo 4.0 is a major step forward in our mission to provide customers with a solution that addresses multiple key barriers to IT productivity -- namely hardware and OS sprawl, manageability and uptime," said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of SWsoft. "With new enterprise-class capabilities such as clustering and real-time backups along with a host of new management and automation features, Virtuozzo is now the most effective path to a streamlined, automated datacenter."

Availability

Virtuozzo 4.0 will be available for public beta testing by the end of September, with general availability expected later this year. To sign up for the beta program, users can go to www.swsoft.com/virtuozzo4/beta.

Current versions of Virtuozzo are available worldwide from SWsoft or any of its partners. A free, fully functional trial of Virtuozzo for Windows and Virtuozzo for Linux is available at www.swsoft.com/virtuozzo/trial.
