BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 3, 2007) - Data protection for remote office data is a
frequently overlooked component of an overall data protection strategy.
Remote offices do not have the same level of IT expertise as the primary
data centers. Furthermore, some companies underestimate the value of the
remote office data to the continued operation of the business, whether the
risk is from a natural disaster or a lawsuit. However, some leading
companies achieve remote office data recovery over 90% of the time,
according to recent benchmark report by Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks company
(
Aberdeen surveyed more than 211 respondents and results showed that 100% of Best-in-Class companies are successful with remote office data recovery over 90% of the time, compared to 38% of the Industry Average and none of the Laggard companies. Furthermore, 83% of Best-in-Class companies apply Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to their remote office data protection practices and backup on average 82% of the remote office data.
"Data protection and recovery management requirements for remote offices are gaining awareness in businesses, as companies recognize the value of their remote office data and risks if that data is lost or unavailable," notes Lee Stommes, Research Analyst, Data Management & Storage at Aberdeen.
Best-in-Class companies understand the value of their remote office data and have taken steps to safeguard that data. "These companies use either centrally managed backup and restore technology or have engaged with managed online services and 3rd party online backup companies to meet their remote office needs," explains Stommes.
