Version 2 of Panergy's docXConverter Enables Non-Office Users to Use Excel 2007 Documents
| Source: Panergy
RAMAT HASHARON, ISRAEL--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - Mac and other computer users without
Microsoft Office can easily open and use files saved in the new Excel 2007
"xlsx" format, thanks to the new version of Panergy's docXConverter.
Version 2.0 of the software opens Word 2007 and Excel 2007 files even if
the programs installed on a person's computer can't otherwise open those
files. docXConverter 2.0 allows users to open and work on Office 2007 documents
exactly as if these documents were traditional Word "doc" or Excel "xls"
documents.
Specifically, docXConverter reads the Word 2007 "docx" or Excel 2007 "xlsx" files and
converts them to RTF (Rich Text Format) or CSV (Comma Separated Value)
formats respectively. The software then directs one of the computer's
programs (e.g., Microsoft Word for Mac, Access or FileMaker) to open the converted file.
When converting an "xlsx" format document to CSV, docXConverter preserves
the data as well as the row, column and cell structure of the original
document. This means the user can get all the information in the proper
cells, but not the formatting or formulas. The result of any formula (but
not the formula itself) will be translated.
When converting the "docx" format to RTF, docXConverter preserves the
content and form of the original document including margins, fonts, styles,
tables, graphics, and headers and footers.
All these operations are done seamlessly and in the background. Set-up is
automatic and completed in seconds. The settings can be configured to meet
particular needs.
docXConverter Appropriate for Both Mac and Windows Users
Panergy's software is appropriate for both Windows and Mac users who do not
have Microsoft Office and need to open an Office 2007 document.
docXConverter is also appropriate for people whose version of Office is not
covered by Microsoft's converter software. This includes users of Office 97
for Windows, of Office 2004 on Mac OS 10.3 or 10.2, of Excel on Mac OS
10.4, and of Office 2001 and 98 on Mac OS 9.
"Sales of Office 2007 are increasing, and more and more Mac users are
receiving Office 2007 files," explained Mickey Sonnenschein, Panergy's vice
president of marketing. "It becomes even more important that Mac users can
easily work on a 'docx' or 'xlsx' document, even without adding or
upgrading any programs."
Version 2.0 supports Roman, Far East and Eastern European languages. The
new version works on Windows, and on Mac OS X 9.2, 10.2 to 10.4.
Availability and Pricing
Version 2 of docXConverter is available now for US$19.95. Version 1, which
was announced December 20, 2006, was the first software to enable Mac
programs to be compatible with the new Word 2007 format.
