PCS Edventures! Announces Proprietary Controller and Programming Environment
| Source: PCS Edventures!.com, Inc.
BOISE, ID--(Marketwire - October 23, 2007) - PCS Edventures!.com, Inc. (OTCBB : PCSV ) today
announced the international release of its new PCS Robotic Controller and
Programming Environment that includes a proprietary hardware and software
solution designed for multiple uses within the K-12 educational space.
Positioned as an alternative to other market offerings such as the LEGO
NXT, VEX, BEAM, and others. The controller, PCS.RC2, will begin shipping
to customers purchasing Edventures Robotics Challenge (ERC) and PCS Academy
of Robotics™ (AOR) packages in early November. Controllers have already
shipped to PCS's distribution partner, Eduwise, in Seoul, South Korea, who
is developing an Edventures Robotics Challenge initiative throughout South
Korea. Controllers are also being shipped to other PCS International
representatives in Singapore, the Middle East, and South Africa.
The programming environment for the controller is proprietary software by
PCS developers that provides a flexible, scalable platform for uses such as
micro-robotics, data acquisition and analysis for applied science,
manufacturing process control, electronic engineering, and applied
mathematics. "This product is more flexible and more powerful than many of
the current options used by educators," said Robert Grover, Chief
Technology Officer for PCS. "And we have specifically designed it around a
modular architecture that will apply to multiple uses." The programming
environment also provisions for deployment into a variety of foreign
language applications and will support programming languages ranging from
LOGO, for elementary level students, to BASIC and C, for high school and
university level students. In addition to robotics and engineering
applications, the controller and environment will also be integrated into
the PCS Academy of Science™ product line for data acquisition and
analysis activities.
Dr. Suhas Pharkute, the Senior PCS Engineer in charge of the development of
the PCS.RC2 is particularly excited about the remote, web-based control
capabilities of the product. "This IP-based architecture enables the
devices to communicate between themselves. For example, students could
collaboratively create a networked robotic device that could collect data
from all over the world. Another example would be a student in India
remotely controlling another student's robot here in Idaho. The
possibilities are tremendous and open up a whole new world of
experimentation and opportunity for our students. We are excited to see
where it will lead."
