Former CBS, Yahoo Executive Will Lead Network of Technology's Most Influential Online Media Properties


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 29, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SourceForge, Inc. (Nasdaq:LNUX), the leader in IT community-driven media and e-commerce, today named Jonathan Sobel to the post of Group President, Media. Sobel will oversee SourceForge, Inc.'s network of media properties, including the popular Slashdot, SourceForge.net, Linux.com, NewsForge, ITManagersJournal and freshmeat.net web sites.

Sobel joins SourceForge, Inc. after working for CBS Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for CBS Interactive Media. At CBS, Sobel played an integral role in developing CBS' Internet strategy, and structuring and negotiating many of CBS' most significant online deals including relationships with Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Yahoo!

In addition to his experience with CBS, Sobel served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel at Yahoo!, where he led worldwide legal and government affairs. Sobel also served on Yahoo!'s Executive Committee. He joined Yahoo! in 1998 as one of the company's first attorneys, and negotiated and managed deals for many of the company's early partnerships, including agreements with technology leaders AT&T, Google, HP, IBM and Sprint, and media companies such as ABC News, Paramount Pictures, Reuters and Universal Music. Additionally, Sobel worked closely with others at the company on many of Yahoo!'s worldwide user services and communities. Before joining Yahoo!, Sobel practiced law in San Francisco and held posts as an attorney at Chips and Technologies, Inc. and Electronics for Imaging, Inc.
