WHAT: The CDMA Development Group (CDG)(www.cdg.org) today commented on Verizon Wireless' announcement that it will be trialing LTE. "We are working with many leading service providers around the globe who are supporting more than one radio technology. It has become clear that a `One Technology Fits All' or `One Network Fits All' strategy may no longer suffice in today's competitive markets," stated Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "However, CDMA2000(r) networks will continue to be a major source of their revenue and will be complemented by a number of various other air interface networks, including other advanced technologies such as 802.11n, LTE, WiMAX and Ultra Mobile Broadband(tm) (UMB(tm)). Through our ongoing WorldMode(tm) efforts, we will ensure that CDMA carriers and their customers will have the necessary multi-mode devices to support applications on CDMA2000 and the other leading radio technologies. 3G CDMA services will remain the dominant generation of mobile communications services long into the future." WHO: The CDMA Development Group is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA2000 technologies. The more than 130 member companies of the CDG include many of the world's largest wireless carriers and equipment manufacturers. The primary activities of the CDG include development of CDMA2000 features and services, public relations, education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support.
