SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 14, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Virgin America today announced the appointment of Tom Anderson as the next generation airline's Senior Vice President of Technical Operations. An industry veteran with more than two decades of experience, Anderson will oversee the start-up carrier's technical operations as it grows from a start-up to a major national carrier.
"Tom brings an incredible depth and breadth of experience across all aspects of airline operations," said David Cush, President and Chief Executive Officer of Virgin America. "His tremendous operational experience coupled with his start-up carrier credentials make him an invaluable asset to Virgin America, especially as the airline continues to expand to new cities."
Anderson joins Virgin America from SkyWorks Capital, where he led that company's joint venture, SkyWorks Capital Asia Ltd., as well as SkyWorks' activities in other regions as Senior Vice President. Prior to joining SkyWorks, Anderson served as the Senior Vice-President for Aircraft Programs and Live TV at JetBlue Airways. Anderson was part of the original start-up team at JetBlue, and during his time there had oversight over the airline's aircraft readiness program, among other roles as the Senior Vice President of Technical Operations and Aircraft Programs.
Anderson began his aviation career on the front lines as a helicopter technician and holds an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. Anderson earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MS degree from Northwestern University.
