BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwire - April 1, 2008) - Premiering on Saturday and Sunday, April 5th
and 6th, is the first ECO Film Festival of Massachusetts
(http://www.ecofilmfestival.us), featuring nine award-winning films and
documentaries being shown in Beverly at the new Wylie Conference Center at
Endicott College on Saturday and at Montserrat College of Art on Sunday.
The mission of the festival is to raise awareness about our environment and
ways we can each make a difference. Films, parties, art exhibits, organic
lunches, children's events and tours of the solar and wind site in Beverly
are all on offer over the weekend.
Along with the Saturday showings there will be a Green Lounge featuring
local environmental groups and companies discussing issues of concern along
with new technologies for saving energy, reducing carbon footprints and
aiding local conservation. Among those appearing will be Salem Sound
Coastwatch, Groom Energy, Daylight Communications, Healthlink, and Solar
Now.
Special appearances include the filmmakers Heather Barrie of Nashville, TN
presenting her film "Kilowatt Ours" and Liz Argo of "The View and the
Vision" featuring a documentary on the wind farms in Denmark. Premiering at
the Festival will also be the newly released film, "The Unforeseen."
In addition, there will be a special Gala Party Saturday night to celebrate
renewable energy and to raise funds for Solar Now, the oldest solar site of
its size in the United States installed by the Carter Administration in
1981. The Gala at the Wylie Conference Center will feature the premiere of
"Kilowatt Ours" followed by cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and dancing.
Sunday offers a tour of Solar Now, several afternoon films, vegetarian
lunches at Chianti Restaurant, free films for children at the Beverly
Public Library, and a Closing Reception featuring an Art and Wine Reception
at Montserrat.
