SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - April 15, 2008) - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a leader
in advanced image processing technology and 3D visualization solutions for
medical imaging applications, today announced the formation of TeraRecon
GmbH, registered in Frankfurt, Germany, a wholly owned subsidiary of
TeraRecon, Inc., and the new European headquarters for TeraRecon.
"As TeraRecon's European operations have grown dramatically over recent
years, the time has come to establish a European headquarters to provide a
center of business operations for this extremely important market in the
global context," said Robert Taylor, Ph.D., TeraRecon president and chief
operating officer. "TeraRecon is now supporting operations in over 15
European countries with sales, marketing, clinical and technical support
staff throughout the region. To accommodate this ever-increasing scale of
operations, we determined that Frankfurt, centrally located in the EU and
well-equipped for rapid response to anywhere in the region, would be the
optimum location for our European headquarters and we are very pleased to
announce the formation of TeraRecon GmbH with this goal in mind. TeraRecon
already enjoys substantial market share in the US and Japanese markets, and
we are committed to further developing our business to realize its full
potential in Europe, now that we have several years of experience in the
diverse and exiting European community, and many friends and colleagues
here who have helped to define and shape our solutions over the years."
TeraRecon's flagship product line, Aquarius iNtuition, is an
enterprise-class system for advanced 3D visualization of medical imaging
examinations obtained by Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanners, among other
medical imaging modalities.
Aquarius iNtuition provides real-time 3D visualization and a comprehensive
suite of decision support tools that are integrated into the imaging
workflow to speed diagnostic interpretation and enrich the imaging
experience with additional information that would not otherwise be
available. Automated and intelligent pre-processing engines identify and
label scans and perform "zero-click" procedures in advance of human
interaction with the data. Streamlined and tailored Workflow Templates,
specifying a sequence of interpretation steps, are provided to speed the
process of 3D navigation through the dataset so that the physician may
focus their time and concentration on the interpretation process itself.
Aquarius iNtuition includes the enterprise-friendly, browser-based
AquariusWEB viewer which uses only JavaScript technology to deliver results
in a rich, interactive, but optimized package of results to referring
physicians via a URL link that can be transmitted by e-mail or embedded in
an electronic medical record or report. It is even possible to open and
display these images on a JavaScript-capable PDA.
