ROCKY MOUNT, NC--(Marketwire - April 18, 2008) - MDA announced today that Boddie-Noell
Enterprises, Inc. has surpassed the $1 million level in giving to the
Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year's campaign of selling Shamrocks
at Boddie-Noell restaurants raised over $300,000 for MDA which helped the
company achieve $1 million in giving over the past 10 years. All of the
Boddie-Noell-owned Hardee's, Texas Steakhouse & Saloon, Café Carolina &
Bakery, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Highway Diner restaurant locations
participated in the annual "Shamrocks Against Dystrophy" campaign this
year.
"We are very appreciative of all our customers and employee efforts in
supporting this extremely worthwhile cause," said Mike Boddie, president of
the restaurant division for Boddie-Noell Enterprises. "We're proud to know
that our contributions will help enable children in our local communities
to attend MDA camp this year, and we're pleased to be associated with such
a worthwhile organization that does great things in our communities."
Boddie-Noell Enterprises has 395 restaurant locations in North Carolina,
South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky participating in this
annual fundraiser. This year's proceeds for the MDA will be one of the
largest in the Carolinas and Virginia and will allow 375 children to go to
MDA camp this year.
"For the past nine years, from top down and bottom up, Boddie-Noell
executives and associates have been tremendous in their support of the
MDA," said Todd Hermon, divisional vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association. "Their effort with Shamrocks is unparalleled in the
communities that they do business. They are one of our top contributors
each year."
