22/04/2008 Metsä Tissue to invest in its Away from Home businesses in Central Eastern Europe and Scandinavia Metsä Tissue, a leading supplier of tissue paper products for the European Away From Home market, today announced that it is to invest in expanded production facilities to further build and grow its business in both Central Eastern Europe and in Scandinavia. In Central Eastern Europe, the company has enjoyed rapid market growth since entering the market and now is the clear market leader in Poland. Katrin brand and business processes are recognised to have played a major part in leading the surge upwards in the quality and service expectations of customers and consumers alike across the region. In Scandinavia too, where the company also enjoys a strong market position, the investment in upgraded production facilities is also a direct result of positive and still growing, demand for its premium quality products. The investment announced now includes a new Away-from-Home rewinder at Metsä Tissue's Mariestad mill in Sweden and the transfer of three rewinders from Mariestad to the company's Krapkowice mill in Poland. The first rewinder will be transferred during the summer 2008. In practice this also means that the company's production facilities are located as near as possible to the region where the finished products are actually going to be used. This minimises transportation and ensures the smallest possible environmental footprint. Through this investment, Metsä Tissue will further strengthen its commitment to serve its customers with high quality Katrin tissue products to meet the specific hygiene, health and comfort needs of every usage environment from professional hygiene demands in health care to public washroom usage. Yet at the same time the investment is also perfectly in keeping with the Katrin brand's concept. Whatever the hand washing and drying application, Metsä Tissue's Katrin range of products is designed and manufactured to minimise working hours, consumption, environmental impact, and hygienic risks while increasing profitability and providing for overall economy.
