The film stars Forest Whitaker (Vantage Point, The Last King of Scotland), Virginia Madsen (A Prairie Home Companion, Sideways) and Minnie Driver (The Riches, Good Will Hunting). Ripple Effect premiered this March at the Sedona International Film Festival in Sedona, AZ, where it won best feature film.
Indie Ranch Media collaborated with filmmaker Philippe Caland and his crew from production through post to provide workflow consultation on the project. The company's assistance began with the selection of the high definition digital cinema cameras, to off-line creative editorial, color grading, title design and final mastering. "We worked with the filmmaker in designing a custom high definition production and post-production workflow that would accomplish his creative goals, while keeping costs to a minimum, and meeting the strict technical delivery requirements of various domestic and international distributors," commented Justin Bergeron, President & CEO of Indie Ranch Media. The result is a very high quality product achieved for much less than it typically costs to produce the average studio film.
Ripple Effect is based on a Los Angeles fashion designer whose attempts at redemption for an accident that occurred 15 years ago, which he believes has plagued his life with bad karma ever since, yields surprising and unexpected results. Through his characters, Director Philippe Caland creates a metaphor for how our lives are altered and shaped by the inner wounds that we all carry.
