Foundry Networks' Industry-Leading BigIron RX Series Interface Module Named Best of Interop Awards Finalist

InformationWeek Selects Foundry Networks as a Data Center and Storage Finalist for Interop Las Vegas 2008

SANTA CLARA, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, April 24, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced its new BigIron(r) RX Series 16-ports of 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) interface module was named a finalist in the Data Center and Storage category of the Best of Interop Awards competition. Selected by judges from TechWeb's InformationWeek, the industry-leading BigIron RX Series interface module is scheduled to be introduced at Interop Las Vegas 2008. The winners will be selected during Interop at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.

The BigIron RX Series interface module offers exceptional efficiency, flexibility and performance for server and storage aggregation within advanced data centers and high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Enabling tremendous scalability and capacity in Foundry's BigIron RX Series chassis, the new module effectively provides up to 512-ports of 10GbE delivering data centers compelling performance and energy saving benefits. Collapsing server connectivity within the data center into fewer chassis enables server virtualization, consumes less power, requires less cooling and utilizes less rack space, which results in a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and a faster return on investment (ROI), which further supports Foundry's ongoing green networking initiatives. The module operates in all four of the BigIron RX Series chassis sizes and interoperates with all of the existing I/O modules.

"Interop has had a long history as the place where important technology is vetted as ready for enterprise use, and the Best of Interop highlights that spirit by showcasing the top product innovations in our industry," said Art Wittmann, Editor for InformationWeek.

The editors of InformationWeek evaluated more than 200 industry-wide submissions to select three finalists in each of the categories. The Best of Interop Awards are targeted to help network architects and administrators shorten the evaluation process in assessing new technology products. By identifying innovative new products at Interop, the Awards assist in maximizing the business value of IT infrastructure.

"We are pleased to be recognized as a finalist in the Best of Interop Awards in the Data Center and Storage category," said Bobby Johnson, president and chief executive officer for Foundry Networks. "Foundry's industry-leading BigIron RX Series switch and interface module advances next-generation data center switching and high performance computing allowing enterprises to unleash the full potential of business-critical applications and their server IT infrastructure. As enterprises continue to expand and build additional data centers, the BigIron RX Series' powerful interface module will allow network architects to design high-performance data centers with unprecedented scalability and density, while minimizing cooling, heating and valuable space requirements."
