PHILADELPHIA, May 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The glorious sound of gospel music will inhabit Penn's Landing for Saturday Night Alive!, presented by Independence Blue Cross and Co-Sponsored by WDAS FM and The CW PHILLY 57. This year Penn's Landing brings the stirring sounds of gospel music and joy filled laughter for one night only to the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing located on Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street. Saturday, June 28th at 6:00 p.m.

Sharon Baptist Church Mass Choir will showcase their awe-inspiring musical talents along with the Sharon Baptist Church Praise Dancers. Their performance at the Great Plaza will highlight songs from their highly anticipated CD on the Soul Searchers Group label entitled "Sing a New Song" to be released June 2008. Sharon Baptist Church is located at 3955 Conshohocken Avenue in Philadelphia.

Saturday Night Alive! will feature the Stellar Award winning and Grammy nominated Rev. Ernest Davis Jr.'s Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. Since 1978 this prolific music ministry has traveled far and near bringing revival through song with incomparable and inspiring compositions such as "He's Preparing Me" and "Sovereign" featuring Rev. Daryl Coley. In 1991, when R&B artist Patti Labelle was in search of a choir to record "When You've Been Blessed, Feels Like Heaven", she called Wilmington Chester Mass Choir.

Saturday Night Alive! will also feature the hit movie "First Sunday." "Two bumbling best friends have one week to pay a $17,000 debt or one of them will lose his son. They come up with a desperate scheme to rob their neighborhood church, but when they botch the job they take the parishioners hostage. The churchgoers slowly convert the pair to see the error of their ways in this comedy about good intentions, bad decisions and second chances."

WDAS FM and THE CW PHILLY 57 will also be on-site each week. Their on-air personalities will introduce performers and have promotional giveaways. The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV) is part of the CBS Stations Group.
