Flushing Financial Corporation Announces Richard Eng to Receive the Empire State Certified Development Corporation's 2008 Lender of the Year Award


LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., June 16, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Flushing Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:FFIC) (the "Company"), the parent holding company for Flushing Savings Bank, FSB (the "Bank"), and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Flushing Commercial Bank, today announced that Richard Eng will receive the Empire State Certified Development Corporation's 2008 Lender of the Year Award at their June 24th Annual Dinner. The announcement was made by John R. Buran, Flushing Financial's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Buran stated: "I am very pleased that Richie will receive such a prestigious award from the Empire State Certified Development Corporation (ESCDC). Flushing Savings Bank, as a multi-year Silver Status Award winner, actively participates in a variety of SBA programs and refers a high volume of SBA 504 loans to the ESCDC. Richie, with his years of banking experience in the New York City market place, has been a strong proponent of the SBA 504 loan program. Already in 2008, Richie has referred five (5) SBA 504 loans of which four (4) loans were approved for New York City properties. Since joining the Bank in 2006, Richie and his staff have made great strides in continually referring a number of SBA 504 loans to the New York Business Development Corporation's New York City and Long Island offices."

Mr. Eng has over 25 years experience in Small Business and Middle Market lending. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Adelphi University. Mr. Eng lives in Bayside, Queens with his wife and two children.
