East Downtown Dearborn Invites Visitors to "See the World in One Mile"
Free Outdoor Concert Scheduled for Thursday, August 21
DEARBORN, MI--(Marketwire - August 18, 2008) - The East Dearborn Downtown Development
Authority (EDDDA) is inviting local residents and visitors to explore the
district's international and eclectic offering of retail stores, ethnic
food shops, restaurants and entertainment. The district is also home to
the world class Arab American National Museum.
A new web site www.EastDowntownDearborn.com, developed by the EDDDA,
highlights local businesses and upcoming events, including a free
City-sponsored "Music Under the Stars" concert on Thursday, August 21,
2008.
The outdoor concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall Park in
front of Dearborn City Hall at 13615 Michigan Avenue. Attendees are
encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the music of Ara Topouzian,
an Armenian American artist, who is nationally recognized for his
performances on the kanun, a Middle Eastern harp.
"Our historic downtown covers a mile stretch along Michigan Avenue and
Schaefer Road in Dearborn, and is evolving as a distinct and vibrant
marketplace with people, food and culture from around the globe," said
EDDDA Executive Director Michael Boettcher. "That's why we can promise
that visitors will truly 'see the world in one mile.'"
Along with the web site, the EDDDA is helping businesses promote their
products and services with advertising in local papers and on radio.
"We've been a well kept secret for far too long," added Boettcher. "You
can get acquainted with our local events, shopping and dining as well as
experience the museum's gorgeous exhibits and global Thursdays concert
series. You'll see all the great things we have to offer."
