TeraRecon's iNtuition™ Client-Server 3D Solution Showcases a Comprehensive Cardiac Analysis Available When and Where You Need It Throughout Your Enterprise

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - August 30, 2008) - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a leading provider of advanced cardiac CT interpretation software, today announced new innovations for its Aquarius iNtuition™ suite of advanced visualization offerings, to be showcased at the European Society of Cardiology 2008 Meeting in Munich, Germany from August 30 to September 2, 2008.

At ESC, Cardiac CT professionals seeking "anytime, anywhere" access to the most advanced and powerful tools for cardiac CT interpretation will see TeraRecon's Aquarius iNtuition™ platform. Aquarius iNtuition™ version 4.3 delivers best-in-class advanced interpretation tools to any PC via the company's industry-leading client-server technology, with particular emphasis on fast interpretation of coronary anatomy and morphology, quantification of stenotic disease, calculation of coronary calcium burden, ventricular function and left atrium analysis, all delivered in a fast, simple and integrated package accessible anywhere throughout your enterprise. "Imaging practices focused on Cardiac CT have very particular needs when it comes to interpretation software," said Robert Taylor, PhD, TeraRecon president and chief operating officer. "Studies are several times larger than typical radiology examinations, and multiple users require concurrent access to the full diagnostic tool set, but via an affordable and flexible licensing model. In addition, distribution of interactive 3D results to referring physicians is a powerful aid to demonstrating the value and convenience of CT technology as a complement to existing diagnostic paradigms in cardiology."

To this end, the Aquarius iNtuition Server can now be configured to support a fixed number of users, each able to access large cardiovascular studies and the full suite of cardiovascular analysis tools. "It is now possible to purchase a server for two cardiac users at a price point competitive with the single workstation usually included in a CT scanner purchase," explained Dr Taylor. "Access for additional users can then be purchased as required, without a need for re-training or a change in deployment strategy. The system is capable of opening studies comprised of over 6000 slices to accommodate the most demanding clinical needs and includes all available clinical functionality without compromises -- representing an unmatched value in the marketplace today. In today's cardiac CT environment, there is virtually no case where a single workstation with a CT or MR scanner is adequate to meet the clinical need, and by combining multiple users with the flexibility of true client-server architecture, we are confident this product will be very popular as an alternative to the advanced visualization offerings normally bundled with imaging modalities."

The server also includes the AquariusWEB viewer, a true browser-based volumetric viewer which works on any modern web browser and allows clinicians to view images sent by interpreting physicians as a URL link via e-mail or embedded in a report. Upon clicking on that link, the physician is taken to a secure page where they can interact directly with key 2D, 3D or vascular analysis views that the interpreting physician selected to illustrate the findings. An interactive 3D experience is provided directly through the web browser, using only standard browser technology, requiring no download, installation of plug-in or administrative privileges on the physician's computer. AquariusWEB is supported directly by modern web browsers without requiring any installation or administrative privileges. Specifically, it is supported by Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Firefox 1.5 or 2.0, without the need to install any upgrade or option. No plug-in required, no ActiveX control, no Java required. AquariusWEB is also supported by most modern Mac and Unix-based browsers. This allows these volumetric and interactive Scenes to have a much broader reach and even to be reviewed by end users whom would otherwise prohibited by institutional security policies that prevent downloading software. The AquariusWEB viewer can also enable embedding of live, interactive Scenes into Electronic Medical Records and physician web portals. It is even possible to open and manipulate volumetric images on the iPhone. AquariusWEB enables enterprise-friendly distribution of results with appropriately limited interactive tools available, and without requiring too much knowledge or training. It is very simple to use, deploy, and control.

"With the Aquarius iNtuition Server, TeraRecon offers the highest single-server capacity available on the market today for the largest number of concurrent users accessing the largest CT examinations with all cardiac tools available," said Dr Taylor. "This is a direct and important benefit afforded by TeraRecon's unique technology platform, which, despite many attempts, no GPU- or CPU-based solution has been able to match."
