FaceTime Positioned in Visionaries Quadrant in Secure Web Gateway Magic Quadrant 2008
| Source: FaceTime Communications
BELMONT, CA--(Marketwire - September 17, 2008) - FaceTime Communications, a leader in security
and management for Web and unified communications, today announced it has
been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the visionaries quadrant in the 'Secure
Web Gateway Magic Quadrant'(1) report published this month. FaceTime is
among 21 vendors in the Web security
market which Gartner evaluated for this report.
According to the report, "URL filtering functionality is already deployed
in roughly 75% to 95% of enterprise networks, while dedicated SWGs [secure
Web gateways] are deployed in less than 30% of enterprise networks. The URL
filtering market will be cannibalized by the broader SWG market."(1)
"Clearly, URL filtering is necessary but not sufficient to manage and
secure the new Internet," said Kailash Ambwani, FaceTime's president and
chief executive officer. "Since we provided the first products to secure
and manage instant messaging in 2001, we've kept our vision clear to
understand how employee behavior and availability of new applications
changes IT security and management requirements. Social networking, Web 2.0
and unified communications adoption have all played a role in FaceTime's
quest to evolve our product to secure and control Web access and promote
employee productivity in the workplace."
Gartner defines the secure Web gateway as a "solution that filters unwanted
software/malware from user-initiated Web/Internet traffic and enforces
corporate and regulatory policy compliance. To achieve this goal, SWGs
must, at a minimum, include URL filtering, malicious code detection and
filtering, and application controls for popular Web-based applications,
such as instant messaging (IM) and Skype."(1)
About FaceTime's Unified Secure Gateway
The FaceTime
Unified Security Gateway (USG) is a secure Web gateway appliance that
enables enterprises to control real-time communications. USG integrates
management, security and compliance of Web communications, consumer-driven
applications such as public instant messaging, Skype and P2P and
enterprise-class Unified
Communications suites such as Microsoft's Office Communications Server
and IBM Lotus Sametime. From a single platform, organizations can enable
and enforce safe and productive use of over 700 applications and protect
the network against inbound malware, mitigate information leakage risks and
insure that corporate, regulatory and e-discovery needs are met.
The USG integrates gateway malware protection and Web
filtering with FaceTime's best-in-class IM hygiene and archiving, in a
purpose-built, hardened appliance. With this single point of control,
organizations can gain complete visibility of all Internet communications
and reduce total cost of ownership using a simpler solution that is easily
administered by the IT staff.
