AEP Networks' Next-Generation HSM Receives FIPS 140-2 Level 4 Certification

AEP Keyper Meets Stringent Government Standards for Providing Highest Level of Encryption Security

SOMERSET, NJ--(Marketwire - October 2, 2008) - AEP Networks, the leader in policy-based networking, today announced that the enterprise and professional models of its AEP Keyper Hardware Security Modules have received Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 4 certification.

Published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the FIPS standard defines security requirements for cryptographic modules. Level 4, which AEP Networks achieved, is the highest accreditation available in the FIPS program, requiring physical tamper protection and mathematical proofs of critical security functions.

AEP Networks used their revolutionary Advanced Configurable Cryptographic Environment (ACCE) technology to design the Keyper range of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), which offer the highest level of protection for mission critical applications that require maximum security. AEP Keyper is ideally suited for companies that need secure key management for certification authorities, registration authorities, OCSP responders, smart card issuers, web servers and other applications, or important new applications emerging in DNSSEC, storage encryption and enterprise key management.

"All AEP Networks' products are designed to deliver the highest levels of security -- from FIPS 140-2 Level 4 to ITSEC E3. Our recent FIPS certification continues our long-held tradition of offering the highest security HSMs available," said Reginald P. Best, chief operating officer of AEP Networks. "The AEP Keyper is unique in the HSM market -- since October 2000, AEP Networks has been the only company in the world to have achieved FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2 Level 4 certification for a fully functioning hardware security module."
