FCIA to Demonstrate 8GFC and Fibre Channel Over Ethernet (FCoE) At Storage Networking World

DALLAS, Oct. 13, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (Storage Networking World) -- The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) today announced that it will showcase two technology demonstrations around 8GFC (Gigabit Fibre Channel) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). Demonstrations will take place in booth 507 at Storage Networking World (SNW), October 13-16, at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas, TX.

"The FCIA continues to be a conduit in providing testing and demonstrations for both mainstream and emerging data center networking technologies such as 8GFC and FCoE," said Skip Jones, chairman of FCIA. "Today's multi-vendor 8GFC and FCoE demonstrations continue to exhibit Fibre Channel performance and reliability, making Fibre Channel the proven number one choice for storage area networks today."

FCIA will showcase for the third consecutive time at SNW 8GFC and FCoE technology and how the two technologies complement each other in the data center. The timely development of the FCoE standard by T11 Fibre Channel standards body allows a high degree of compatibility and interoperability for today's FCoE products.

This demonstration brings together 16 leading companies showing support for the new standard currently under development and is well on its way to being approved in 2009. The companies supporting this demonstration are: Amphenol, BLADE Network Technologies, Broadcom, Brocade, Cisco, EMC, Emulex, Finisar, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, LSI, NetApp, Mellanox Technologies, Molex and QLogic.

The FCIA will be distributing a new Fibre Channel Solutions Guide that includes up-to-date information on the benefits of Fibre Channel SANs, Energy Efficiency, the benefits of FCoE in the Data Center, Fibre Channel management, Fibre Channel Roadmap, the path to unification and server virtualization. The FCIA will also be presenting in the following sessions at SNW:

 * Fibre Channel Technologies -- Current and Future
   Monday, October 13 from 9:20 a.m. to 10:05 a.m.

Presented by Steve Wilson, Director of Technology and Standards,
Brocade; and M.K Jibbe, Manager and Test Architect, LSI.

 * Blazing New Trails -- Fibre Channel Corrals the Storage Market
   Thursday, October 16 from 10:20 a.m. to 11:05 a.m.
