IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 22, 2008) - Vision
Solutions today announced the integration of Vision Cluster1™ and IBM Systems Director Navigator.
Vision Cluster1 is the flagship enterprise cluster management solution for
System i and IBM Systems Director Navigator is a popular Web console
interface for IBM i administration.
This powerful combination of technologies enables customers to efficiently
manage, monitor and protect their clustered IBM i environments. Developed
in close cooperation with IBM, Vision Cluster1 is the industry's first
solution to extend IBM PowerHA to include managed clusters utilizing IBM's
Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (IASP)-based technology with Vision
Solutions' logical replication offerings. Cluster1 can integrate these IBM
technologies with logical replication solutions to provide true enterprise
class high availability and disaster recovery protection.
-- Vision Cluster1 provides enhanced monitoring and
autonomic capabilities that enable customers to more easily manage complex
enterprise environments and meet aggressive recovery time and recovery
point objectives (RTOs and RPOs).
-- When bundled with Vision's logical replication solutions, customers also
benefit from an improved level of protection.
-- Vision Cluster1 includes one-button switch capabilities that work with
or without a logical replication solution. Cluster1 is also backed by
certified 24/7 support to keep the world's most valuable IBM i environments
highly available.
"We are thrilled that Vision Solutions and IBM are providing this level of
product integration," say customers Ron Yohe and Reid Parker, both senior
systems analysts for Prescription Solutions. "The out-of-the-box
interoperability of their market-leading technologies enables us to ensure
maximum uptime for our most critical and complex systems -- we cannot
overemphasize this importance."
"This level of integration truly takes high availability protection to new
levels within the Power Systems world," says IBM's Dave Nelson, Director of
IBM i Software Development. "Enabling customers in some of the world's most
complex environments to manage their availability with one-click cluster
management increases customer satisfaction and helps our mutual customers
improve their business resiliency."
Today's announcement is the latest in a series of developments that enhance
the customer experience when using Vision products. This integration
provides customers with a no-hassle way to monitor and manage their
multi-node clustered environments. Vision Cluster1 minimizes IT labor, simplifies cluster
management, and provides options for clustering topologies while ensuring
servers are ready to switch.
"Vision's R&D lab in Rochester, Minnesota works closely with the adjacent
IBM lab to ensure our solutions extend the latest technologies. Integrated
offerings such as these represent the future for IBM Power Systems
customers," says Vision Solutions' Executive Vice President and Chief
Technology Officer, Alan Arnold. "This is one of the significant reasons an
increasing number of IBM AIX and i customers with a high availability
solution rely on Vision to protect their business systems."
