PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - December 18, 2008) - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ : TIBX ) announced
that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a leading health benefits provider in the
New England area, has selected TIBCO ActiveMatrix®
software as the foundation for its web services platform. Using TIBCO
software, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care created a standardized approach to
accessing previously scattered data both across the company and with
external business partners without compromising either performance or
security. Harvard Pilgrim's innovative web service platform eliminates
barriers to evolving the ecosystem of healthcare providers.
"Health care companies like us are just beginning to take advantage of the
benefits of Service Oriented Architecture, long term management of cost and
significantly increased flexibility," said Larry Rapisarda, Harvard
Pilgrim's chief technology officer. "We need technology that will help us
deliver components into a full-service management infrastructure. TIBCO
ActiveMatrix gives us deployment management, runtime controls, directory
services, policy management, and much more out of the box so we can now get
a jump start on the business needs identified in our SOA based strategy."
Harvard Pilgrim is using TIBCO ActiveMatrix to become more efficient in the
management and deployment of services across its enterprise. This allows
Harvard Pilgrim to reuse services regardless of whether the service is
being used internally or externally. TIBCO ActiveMatrix uses a complex
event rules engine to monitor various events within the Harvard Pilgrim
infrastructure to prevent breakdowns and provide SLA management for all
services, regardless of their implementation technology. Additionally,
Harvard Pilgrim can now dynamically add or modify access control policy to
any SOAP interface without disrupting the service and provide multiple
interfaces to the same service implementation.
"Leading companies like Harvard Pilgrim highlight the value technology can
bring to solving real business problems," said Ram Menon, executive vice
president of worldwide marketing at TIBCO. "By leveraging technology to
drive business innovation and change, Harvard Pilgrim demonstrates its
strong commitment to providing the best service to its customers and
business partners."
