McObject Achieves "Ready for IBM Rational Software" Validation

ISSAQUAH, WA--(Marketwire - January 8, 2009) - McObject® today announced its eXtremeDB™
in-memory and on-disk embedded database has received IBM's "Ready for IBM
Rational Software" validation, demonstrating eXtremeDB's ability to
integrate as a plug-in for IBM Telelogic Rhapsody and enable faster
time-to-market of embedded software that requires embedded data management.
With Rhapsody configured to work with eXtremeDB, developers can visually
model their application or system, access eXtremeDB's application
programming interfaces (SQL/ODBC or native), and generate code that
interacts with the database from within Rhapsody.
McObject's plug-in addresses all integration issues between eXtremeDB and
Rhapsody, providing seamless access to database features after a quick and
fully automated installation. The integration incorporates eXtremeDB steps
into Rhapsody's code generation and compilation steps, and makes eXtremeDB
functions available via the Rhapsody Intellivisor.
Rhapsody projects often must share data between software components. The
eXtremeDB in-memory database system is a safe way to meet this requirement
without resorting to global variables, shared memory, and "homegrown" code
to manage concurrent access. The eXtremeDB plug-in adds a handset project
to Rhapsody's example programs, illustrating how the embedded software in a
mobile phone would append a 'recent calls' list.
"Complex embedded systems development projects gain software quality and
shorten development cycles by using Rhapsody's automated,
graphically-driven approach to modeling and code generation. But
increasingly, Rhapsody users working in military, aerospace,
telecommunications and other embedded systems fields find that their
applications must also manage large volumes of complex data. That's when
developers turn to eXtremeDB for a solution," McObject Chief Operating
Officer Chris Mureen said
"McObject's relationship with IBM, and the resulting Rhapsody-eXtremeDB
plug-in, ensure that clients can capture the benefits of both companies'
technologies in a seamlessly integrated tool set," he said.
"eXtremeDB's 'Ready for IBM Rational' validation clearly signals to
organizations using IBM Rational software tools that they can easily
integrate McObject's tiny-footprint embedded database with Rhapsody in C,"
said Stephen Lauzon, senior manager, ISV Strategy and Ready for IBM
Rational Software. "We're pleased that this plug-in is available to
customers."
Users of IBM Rational's Rhapsody in C can download the free eXtremeDB
integration from McObject's Web site.
