General Sessions and Case Studies at the AIIM Expo + Conference to Focus on Improving Business Processes in a Challenging Economy

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - January 27, 2009) - In the midst of deepening budget and staffing cuts, the critical importance of effective enterprise information management has never been greater. At the upcoming AIIM International Exposition + Conference -- the world's largest content and information management event -- more than 100 end user speakers will be on hand to help attendees respond to -- and get ahead of -- the increasing need for information-based solutions to today's unprecedented business challenges.

"Now more than ever, organizations need to find ways to automate business processes, connect people and ideas more economically, reduce legal and regulatory exposure, and improve information access and business performance transparency," said Tom Bliss, Group Conference Director, Questex Media, producers of the event. "The AIIM conference program has always been about helping companies achieve those objectives. And while that basic mission hasn't changed, the urgency associated with succeeding has grown dramatically in recent months. This year's program is designed to help attendees find fast, effective and economical solutions to their content and information management problems."

During the three-day event there will be several general sessions. On Tuesday, March 31, CIOs from Blue Cross Blue Shield Minnesota, the US Air Force Medical, the Organization of American States and Wells Fargo will discuss how to keep enterprise content management projects a priority by developing executive support and effectively communicating ECM's increased importance.

On Wednesday, April 1, Whitney Tidmarsh, Vice President of EMC, will provide a CIO's business insight in this challenged economy. Tidmarsh says, "In 2009, IT will face even more increasing pressures and CIOs will be scrutinized for their ability to deliver better business efficiency, risk reduction and more rapid ROI. At the same time, employees, partners and customers are demanding transparency and a more open flow of information enabled by social networks and collaborative Web 2.0 applications. Faced with an explosion of user-generated data and increased information sharing, organizations are challenged to protect and retain this information and somehow generate value from it."

Following Tidmarsh's General Session, Kurt Delbene, Vice President, Office Business Platform Group for Microsoft, will discuss "Do More with Less: Using Technology to Compete and Win in a Tough Economy."

Delbene's General Session will discuss how the ability to streamline and increase efficiencies, keep know-how within a company, retain and attract customers, and keep top talent in this highly competitive environment will determine how a company will fair through this tough economic period. Notwithstanding the challenges businesses are facing, this is a unique environment to make competitive gains by harnessing the value of IT investments, knowledge management tools, and people.

In addition to the general session presentations, more than 140 breakout sessions will cover virtually all of the most pressing business information challenges that companies are facing A few of the sessions that will offer success stories are, "How Hershey Resorts and Entertainment Eliminated Paper-Incentive Business Processes and Engaged Employees with a Dynamic Portal," "How Bank Mutual Implemented Remote Capture and Save Over $250,000 per Year," "How BMHC's Hosted ECM Solution Enables 10 AP Personnel to process 600,000 Invoices and Save $1 Million," "How to Cut Costs and Increase Customer Satisfaction with Comprehensive Print Management," "Managing Integration on a Budget: A Delta Case Study," and "Affordable Document Management for Small Business or Departmental Users."

"Whether you're in the process of assessing and selecting new business applications or platforms, building the business case for their adoption, or you're already in the process of implementing new solutions, the AIIM Exposition + Conference, will help you move from Point A to Point B," added Bliss. "The conference program provides the knowledge, insight and advice attendees need to survive and thrive in this difficult economy, and the Expo floor showcases practical solutions to information and content management challenges for organizations of every shape and size."
