Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Selects Enterasys to Securely Connect City-Wide Traffic Control Center

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - January 27, 2009) - Enterasys Networks Inc., the Secure Networks Company™, today announced that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has selected its Matrix® N-Series switches and NetSight® management software to support real-time video and Internet-based monitoring of the city's critical traffic and transportation infrastructure. The new Enterasys identity-based IT infrastructure reliably and securely transports digital video from more than 412 remote surveillance cameras throughout the metropolitan area, delivers network connectivity for 50 remote Traffic Control personnel as well as supports live traffic reports for Istanbul's 15 million residents to access via computers, PDAs and televisions.

When the Istanbul Traffic Control Center, a division of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, sought to upgrade its method of monitoring traffic flow and control, they soon realized that a network infrastructure upgrade would be the first step in the process.

Real-time data collected from remote video surveillance cameras is routed safely and securely along the Enterasys network and converted to traffic information used by Traffic Control Center personnel and by Istanbul residents via the web. With the simple-to-use, remote management features of Enterasys' NetSight® management software, Sögüt and his team of only two full-time network operations employees can cut travel expenses associated with managing remote sites, while retaining granular network visibility and control.

The new IT infrastructure also seamlessly integrates with the Control Center's existing hardware, allowing for maximum return on investment with legacy infrastructure, while built-in security and service-oriented networking features gives Sögüt peace-of-mind that information confidentiality, integrity and availability will remain safe at any point along the network.
