Nearly 45 Million Unique Visitors Spur 27% Increase in Year-Over-Year Audience Growth


REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the eighth consecutive month, msnbc.com beat both CNN.com and Yahoo! News and was named the #1 Current Events and Global News Site, according to Nielsen Online. In January, msnbc.com attracted more than 44.8 million unique visitors as consumers turned to the site for a fuller spectrum of news, including expansive coverage of the Presidential Inauguration, breaking news on the emergency plane landing on the Hudson River, and multimedia features on the American Kennel Club's best dog breeds.

     an 8% lead over CNN.com (41.6 million) and 11% more than Yahoo!
     News (40.4 million).*
