NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - National
Cable Communications (NCC), the leader in cable television advertising
sales and marketing, today announced the promotion of Greg Schaefer to President and Chief
Executive Officer. Schaefer came to NCC in November 2002 as the firm's
Chief Operating Officer and was elevated to President on January 1, 2004.
Schaefer has led the company during a period of dramatic evolution and
growth, with sales exceeding $1 billion in 2008. NCC introduced a number of
breakthrough sales, marketing and technology initiatives under his
leadership that have made Spot
Cable one of the fastest growing segments of the ad market.
"Greg has been a terrific asset to NCC
and Spot Cable. He has recruited a top notch executive team, expanded
NCC affiliations, and pushed the company north of $1 billion in revenue. We
look forward to a bright future for Greg and NCC," said Charlie Thurston,
President, Comcast Spotlight, and member of the NCC Board of Directors.
In 2008, Schaefer was the recipient of both the Cable Advertising Bureau's
President's Award and "The Silver Bell" award from The Ad Council which
underscored his significant contributions to the cable advertising
industry.
Joan Gillman, President, Media Sales, Time Warner Cable and NCC Board
Member, added, "Greg has been instrumental to NCC's growth by forging
strategic alliances and aligning Spot Cable with the ever changing needs of
today's marketers."
Billy Farina, Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales at Cox
Communications, Inc. and NCC Board Member, noted, "Greg's leadership and
foresight has made NCC the media powerhouse it is today. He's the right
person to lead it through this challenging economic time and beyond."
Schaefer has over 30 years of experience in advertising sales and
management on both the station and representation sides. He spent 20 very
successful years at media giant CBS. There he rose to the position of
President of Viacom Station Sales, where he directed the sales and
marketing efforts for 35 Owned and Operated TV stations. He finished his
CBS career as Station Manager at flagship WCBS-TV.
