ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - March 9, 2009) - Enterasys Networks Inc., the Secure Networks
Company™, announced today that it has been selected as the official
network provider for Istanbul's Sutluce Cultural & Congress Center, and
will serve the 5th World Water Forum, the world's largest water-related
event. The Enterasys Secure Networks solution, selected for its
standards-based, open-architecture interoperability, built-in security, and
proven energy efficiency, will provide reliable, high-performance wired and
wireless connectivity for more than 23,000 people from 100 countries,
enabling real-time collaboration between presenters, exhibitors and
attendees. The 5th World Water Forum will be held 16-22 March 2009 in
Istanbul, Turkey.
Held every three years by the World Water Council, the World Water Forum
brings together top environmental experts with political, academic and
business leaders to discuss the protection, management and finance of water
resources. In keeping with the environmental conservation theme of the
event, its network provider was required to meet green IT standards in
addition to secure, mobile connectivity as required by the prestigious
architecture firm Yeni Yapi A.S. and the system designers Fotech Ltd. Sti.
who are undertaking the completion of the center in Istanbul.
Enterasys switches were named to CRN's "Top 10 Green Switches" list for
2008, which required greater than 90% efficiency from device power supplies
and reduced electricity required for cooling the data center and overall
network operation. The company also designs for the environment through
compliance with environmental regulations such as the European RoHS
(Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste from Electrical and
Electronic Equipment) directives as well as China's recent RoHS
regulations.
The Enterasys Secure Network will be installed in a 785,000-square-foot
conference and performing arts center that the Istanbul Metropolitan
Municipality is currently developing through converting an existing
historic facility. The new network will include Enterasys Matrix®
N-Series switches, SecureStack™ C-Series edge switches and RoamAbout®
Wireless LAN access points. The entire infrastructure will be managed with
granular visibility and control thanks to Enterasys' NetSight® Management
Suite.
In addition to the World Water Forum, Enterasys has been selected as the
network provider for other high-profile events, including Interop 2009 in
Las Vegas.
"Enterasys is pleased to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to
environmental responsibility by participating as the network provider for
the World Water Forum," said Chris Crowell, EVP and General Manager at
Enterasys. "Supplying secure and open connectivity with our certified,
energy-efficient suite of solutions is a critical priority that we are
proud to bring to this global event."
